How soon should I enroll my player in your 8 week skills camp?
We highly recommend that in order to ensure your spot in our 8 week skills camp, you enroll your player months ahead of time. Even though our skills camps run throughout the year - spots fill up within the first week of advertising. Once spots are full we cannot enroll any more players - mostly due to the fact that the gym has an occupancy limit due to city bylaws. To ensure you do not miss out on your chance of joining our 8 week skills camp, please enroll much ahead of time - rather last minute.

Do the 8 week skills camp classes accommodate all types of skill levels (beginner and experienced)?
Absolutely. We welcome all skill level players to our camps with wide open arms. Our camps have been designed to ensure that whether you are a beginner level player or an experienced one - each and every player will feel comfortable and confident during their entire camp experience with us. At our 8 Week basketball camps - no playing experience is required.

Our 8 week basketball skills camps are designed to train, develop and challenge both the beginner level and experienced level basketball players. Every players skill level will be assessed by our coaches during the first class. Players will then be grouped with players at their similar skill level and age groups so players feel comfortable during the entire 8 week camp on Sundays. What is offered when we enroll with Jumpshot Basketball Academy?
Our 8 weeks camps run all year long (spring, summer, fall and winter) and costs $298.88 per 8 week camp which includes:

* Our 8 week skills training academy throughout the year for Grade 1's to 12 (spring, summer, fall and winter) - practices every Sunday.
* All skill level players (beginners to advanced) are welcome to our 8 week skills camps. Players are subdivided into groups each camp based on skill level and ages; and assigned coaches accordingly.
* 60 to120 minute practice (based on age group) every Sunday which includes skills development and scrimmage matches (for all skills camp enrolled players).
* Camp end skills competition awards!

For which age groups do you have skills classes for?
We currently provide skills and scrimmage classes for boys every Sunday - for the following ages:
Boys ages 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 & 17 (Grades Kindergarten - Grade 1 to Grade 12)

How do I register my player for your skills classes?
To register your player for our Fall 2025 classes, please click on the following links based on your player's age group and gender. The person making the payment will provide their personal information (i.e. parent of player). Once you have successfully registered for our program one of our coaches will be emailing you to obtain your player's information and to advise you of weekly practice requirements.

Where are classes held every week?

The gymnasium at St. Margaret's School is a state of the art 8000 square foot gym which has a total of 6 basketball hoops. It is a massive facility, perfect for our players to learn, grow and develop. St. Margaret's School is located in Saanich just a 5 minute drive from the corner of McKenzie Street and Quadra Street.
We understand the sacrifices parents have to make for their children and we sincerely hope that your child gets the opportunity to join our camp. You won't be disappointed!

How can my player be chosen to play on the tournament team?
All players looking to play on our elite boys basketball travel teams must tryout for the team and be selected by our coaches to play either on our ELITE U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 OR U18 teams. Only selected players will have the opportunity to play on our teams. We highly recommend your player be on a moderate to high skill level bracket in order to be chosen to play on our tournament teams. Tryouts are held every month.

Why is commitment important in basketball/sports?
We highly enourage our players to dedicate themselves to our 8 week camp, and this is why:

We believe that our duty as parents is to always give our children unconditional love, support and encouragement overall in life and in sports; win or lose. If your child has never played basketball before (and this is their first time) - then there is a small possibility your child may feel discouraged after a few practices due to their current level of skill (in their mind anways). But - THIS IS WHERE THE PARENT(S) COMES IN! Sometimes we as parents need to give our children a little extra nudge of encouragement towards how important commitment is in overall life and most importantly; in basketball.

Basketball is a game of practice, repetative movements and habit - and from there is when skill is developed (over time). Skill is NOT naturally engrained in a basketball player; meaning they are not born with basketball playing skills. Skill comes from dedication, continuous practice, continous repetative movements and by creating positive habits. Rest assured we at Jumpshot Basketball Academy will give our 110% to create a positive learning environment for your child and encourage them fully, regardless of their skill level at the moment. Our objective first is to help improve their confidence in themselves; and from there your child will excel in all areas of sports and basketball.

Our basketball program will run all year round!

Being committed to something will not only teach them about their strengths, abilities and weaknesses, but also about THEMSELVES. Our 8 week basketball skills classes will help your child develop physical basketball skills, get exercise, make friends, have fun, learn teamwork, learn to play fair, and improve their overall self-esteem.

If we cannot commit to the 8 week - weekly camps do you have drop in rates?
Yes, we do allow drop ins. Drop in rate is $40.00 per class. Please bring cash with you on the date you wish to drop in and give the payment to one of the coaches. You must email us your chosen date and your players full name prior to attending to [email protected]. How much do your classes cost?
Our 8 week camp cost to attend our classes is $299.80 + taxes (our 8 week fee takes into consideration gym rental fees, uniform fees, staff wages, equipment cost, insurance cost and coaching fees).

Do you offer refunds once we have paid for your classes?

Players or parents wishing to withdraw from program(s) may do so up to three (3) weeks before the scheduled start date of the program and/or before the registration deadline date (if stated) for a full refund less $50 registration fee (non-refundable).
In case of illness or injury to a registered participant; a doctor's note must accompany a refund request. There is NO refund once the program has started.
If for any reason we do not have enough children enrolled for a specific age group and classes cannot commence, a full refund will be provided to all registrants or the option of practicing with the older age group will be provided.
Refunds WILL NOT be provided if you cancel during the actual progression of the 8 week classes.
We do not provide refunds for missed classes.
If COVID-19 provincial guidelines change in the future, to the extent that we can no longer run our camp programming, we will be providing pro-rated credits to players for future classes.

Do the players and parents need to sign a waiver form prior to attending your classes?
Yes, all players and parents must sign our legal waiver form prior to attending classes. These forms will be provided to you after your registration for our classes.

Our terms of service and parent's/participant's agreement is: I, the undersigned, realizing that there is risk inherent in any recreational and competitive activity, and in consideration of my (my child) being allowed to participate in this activity, I assume all risks in connection of this activity. I further agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Jumpshot Basketball Academy, its officers, officials, coaches, other participants, employees, and agents from any and all claims and liabilities of any type whatsoever, and for damages to, loss or destruction of any property or injury, sickness or death which may now or hereafter arise out of, result from, or in any way be connected with my participation in this activity.

I understand it is my responsibility to obtain health insurance. I grant Jumpshot Basketball Academy permission to seek medical treatment for myself (my child) in the event I am unavailable or unable. I acknowledge that Jumpshot Basketball Academy may utilize my name, address, and likeness and hereby waive all rights to compensation for their use in the promotion and operation of Jumpshot Basketball Academy. I further state that I am of lawful age and legally competent to sign this release, that I understand the terms herein are contractual and are not mere recital; and that I have signed this document of my own free act. How old do you have to be to attend your classes?
Currently our classes start anywhere from 5 years old and all the way up to 17 years old (boys).

What equipment does my player need during your classes?
We ask all players to wear gym shorts, t-shirts, socks and sneakers. We also ask players to bring their own water bottle (LABELED WITH THEIR NAME) and their own basketball (LABELED WITH THEIR NAME). If they do not have their own basketball - we will provide them with one.

Do you have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place for the health and safety of coaches and players?
Absolutely we do. In fact the owner of Jumpshot Basketball Academy has over 20 years of professional occupational health and safety experience as a private practitioner/consultant for clients all over BC. We assure all players and parents that all measures have been taken to ensure the health and safety of our players and coaches.

All we ask from your end is to ensure that you please DO NOT send your child to class if they are showing any type of flu-like symptoms (ZERO SYMPTOMS). Vaccinations are NOT mandatory to attend our classes. Please read up on our COVID-19 & Communicable Disease Prevention Safety Plan HERE.

Does your Basketball Academy have insurance?
Absolutely we do. Our school has complete personal liability insurance, general liability insurance and worksafebc insurance for our staff.

Will you have first aid services during your classes?
Absolutely we will. All our staff are certified in occupational first aid and a Level 2 First Aid kit will be on site at all times.

Although, risk of serious injury at our basketball camp is very low - accidents sometimes do happen (such as a sprained ankles, players running into each other or an accidental ball strike to the face resulting in a bleeding nose). If this is the case - rest assure - your child will be well taken care of and his/her parents will be notified immediately by phone.

Can parents watch during classes?
Parents can view practices from the upper mezzanine viewing area only. There are no parents or spectators allowed inside the gymnasium floor during practice.

How long does the season run and how what is the length of classes?
We conduct basketball classes for children all year round from January to December. Each set of classes will be held in Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring for a 8 week period each. Cost for each 8 week camp is $299.80 + GST. Class days will be held on Sundays. We ask all players and parents to view our REGISTRATION page to view current classes, dates, locations and times. Classes for each age group will run for 60 to 90 minutes each week depending on the age group.

Will Jumpshot Basketball Academy be using my childs photo or video on their website?
Yes, we reserve to right to take photos and videos during our classes and we may take photos and videos of players in action with Jumpshot Basketball Academy for advertising purposes only, on our website and or socia media platforms (facebook and instagram). If you do not want your childs photo or video on our website or social media platforms for advertising purposes please let us know prior to joining our camps.
