Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Basketball Coach to lead and develop our boys team - from ages 5 to 18 in the Victoria BC area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in basketball, with the ability to educate players on techniques, strategies, and teamwork. This role involves not only coaching during practices and games but also fostering a positive and motivating environment for athletes of all skill levels and for boys starting from the age of 5 to 18 years old.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective training programs that enhance players' skills and understanding of the game.
  • Educate athletes on basketball fundamentals, including shooting, passing, dribbling, and defensive strategies.
  • Organize and conduct practices that focus on teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Analyze player performance during games and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Foster a supportive team culture that encourages personal growth and development both on and off the court.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other coaching staff to ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
  • Monitor player attendance and participation in practices and games.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations during training sessions.
  • Attend tournaments On Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Travel will be required.

​Requirements
  • Strong previous experience as a basketball player at a university, college or pro competitive level is required.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate players effectively.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to reach their full potential.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage practice schedules and game plans.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive team environment that promotes inclusivity and respect among all players.
  • A personal vehicle will be required so you can travel across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus but not required.
  • Criminal record check will be required.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week

This role involves not only coaching during practices and games but also fostering a positive and motivating environment for athletes of all skill levels and for boys starting from the age of 5 to 18 years old.
